On May 4th, the Brashear Association's New Artists after school program held its annual student art show. The show's theme was inspired by its coincidence with Star Wars Day.
The art hung on the walls of the South Side Carnegie Library was made by the 13 students of the New Artists program and displayed a variety of different materials, media, and techniques that they had learned during the past eight months of the after school art club.
Students invited family, friends, friends' family, and neighbors to enjoy to artwork and share in the company with food and festivities.
In the corner of the make-shift gallery was a table where attendees could share their artistic gifts with somebody in need. The service project station was devoted to writing letters and making cards of support and encouragement for patients at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
With another successful year of New Artists concluded, I'd like to thank all of the people who attended to support the talented kids of New Artists, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for giving us use of their facility, and the students for their inspiring love of art.
